The inaugural Northern Ireland Social Media Awards took place on Thursday 26th September 2019 in the Europa Hotel and celebrated the individuals, businesses and campaigns in social media marketing excelling in social media marketing.
The awards, which were created by two of Northern Ireland’s leading award-winning digital marketers and industry mentors, Niamh Taylor of Digital 24 and Caroline O’Neill of DIGG For Success, comprised of 27 categories including Best Social Media Campaign in Hospitality, Best use of Social Media in Retail, Most Innovative Use of Social Media and Social Media Marketer of the Year.
The gala event was attended by 400 representatives from a host of industries including finance, tourism, education, government, retail, healthcare and fitness and winners included the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Hastings Hotels, the Irish Football Association (IFA), Harlso the Balancing Hound, Cool FM and the Belfast Giants
To maximise awareness of the Northern Ireland Social Media Awards, Fiona Brown Communications created and coordinated a PR strategy for the duration of the campaign including the launch announcement and event, profiling of event organisers and prestigious judges, shortlist of winners and post event. Over 100 pieces of coverage was secured in print, online and broadcast media.
The 2021 Northern Ireland Social Media Awards didn’t take place due to Covid-19, however post pandemic, the awards will be back and FBC looks forward to providing PR support once again.
